Etymology[edit]
Gikun word derived by applying Chinese-derived spelling 儕 (“fellow, together”) to native Japanese pluralizing suffix ら (ra).
Suffix[edit]
- (pluralizing suffix) e.g. 我儕 (warera, us).
- ※ In Genesis 1:26, the multi-person God-head (The Holy Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Ghost) is refferred to by the plural word "us" translated 我儕 (warera, us) but this is not a unique usage of this kanji for this suffix in this Bible translation.
