These are terms noted for being coined from the Tolkien's legendarium, but used outside this context.

- A fiery demonic creature.
- ent
- (fantasy) A fictional large talking tree.
- Gollum
- A gollumish person.
- gollumish
- (informal) Having similar traits to the fictional character Gollum, including obsessiveness, sinisterness or talking in an unusual manner often punctuated by hissing sounds.
- half-elf
- (fantasy) A person who is half elven and half human by birth.
- hobbit
- A fictional race of small humanoids.
- (by extension) A member of any race of small humans or hominids.
- hobbitlike
- Resembling or befitting a hobbit.
- hobbity
- (informal) Looking like a hobbit - short and unshaven; hobbitlike.
- mithril
- (fantasy) An imaginary, silvery metal of great strength and value.
- Quenya
- A constructed language modelled on Greek, Latin and Finnish.
- Ringwraith
- (fantasy) Anyone who keeps a magical ring, and is enslaved thereby, and may also be rendered invisible and immortal thereby.
- Sindarin
- A constructed language based on Welsh.
