Phonemic transcription for <ר>[edit]

i don't necessarily think /ʁ/ is the best choice to represent the rhotic here — since both uvular and apical ר are heard within all dialects of yiddish, /r/ might be a better phonemic simplification, like its use in english transcription as a catchall rhotic symbol. maybe both [ʁ] and [ɾ] can be used in narrow transcriptions? airy—zero (talk) 13:35, 31 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

I don't have a strong opinion, but @Mahagaja might. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 15:56, 31 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
I don't have a strong opinion either, but I would point Wiktionary doesn't actually use /r/ as a catchall rhotic symbol in English. —Mahāgaja · talk 16:15, 31 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
