Etymology

Celtic/Gaulish meaning "those with blond curls," from Gallo-Roman Baius << Gaulish *Bayos << Proto-Celtic *bodyos (“yellow”) + *kassos (“curly, twisted”). Compare Veliocasses and the Old Irish buide cass.
