I feel this should be moved to either Category:Cannabis or Category:Cannabaceae family plants, because Cannabis is a genus, not a family. Binarystep (talk) 09:48, 29 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Move to CAT:Cannabaceae family plants. We do often use vernacular names for families in our categories – other members of CAT:Rosales order plants include CAT:Buckthorn family plants‎, CAT:Mulberry family plants‎, CAT:Nettle family plants‎, and CAT:Rose family plants‎, none of which are the scientific designations – but in this case the name is ambiguous, so moving the category makes sense. —Mahāgaja · talk 10:36, 29 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
Support. Seems like a sensible move. Acolyte of Ice (talk) 10:39, 29 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
The other option would be "Hemp family plants", which is more colloquial and is actually used in the real world. Chuck Entz (talk) 14:24, 29 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
No objections to CAT:Hemp family plants. I support moving to either one. —Mahāgaja · talk 15:59, 29 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
Best, to Category:Hemp family plants. Fay Freak (talk) 16:11, 29 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • Vernacular names only loosely correspond to taxonomic names. It is probably a good idea to withhold support from the idea that there is a strong correspondence. Using more vernacular names is probably better to achieve this than category names including the taxonomic name. I'd prefer "hemp". DCDuring (talk) 00:31, 13 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
