Ideally Wiktionary should use the most common spelling, and that does seem to be one with â, though amusingly this category doesn't have the â in the right place. The hits for google books:"Nyâlayu" are almost all French, but the hits for google books:"Nyalayu", which are English, for the most part actually do use the accent when you click through and look at them... and there seem to be even more hits for the spelling Ethnologue prefers, Nyelâyu. There are downsides to using characters that are hard to type, but the benefits of using the most recognizable name probably outweigh them, and there are edit tools below the edit window for inputting various characters, many of which are needed not just for typing the language name but for entering words from the language, some of which (though not any we currently have) use various accents. - -sche (discuss) 04:53, 7 March 2016 (UTC)
