Borrowed from Hindi कलवार (kalvār), from Sanskrit कल्यपाल (kalyapāla), via Prakrit कल्लवाल (kallavāla).

  1. A member of an Indian caste historically found in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, and other parts of north and central India, and traditionally associated with the distillation and selling of liquor.
