- A staining procedure for acid-fast species of the bacterial genera Mycobacterium and Nocardia and the apicomplexan genus Cryptosporidium. It involves a primary stain (basic fuchsin), a decolorizer (acid-alcohol), and a counterstain (methylene blue).
