Dutch[edit]

Een vogelkijkhut op de Marker Wadden.

Etymology[edit]

Literally, tidal mudflats of Marken. The islands are named for their location in the Markermeer. Despite the name, however, these islands are not in fact tidal mudflats (unlike the wadden after which the Waddenzee is named, for example).

Pronunciation[edit]

  • IPA(key): /ˌmɑr.kər ˈʋɑ.də(n)/

Proper noun[edit]

Marker Wadden pl

  1. An artificial wetland archipelago in lake Markermeer, located in the province Flevoland, The Netherlands.
