English[edit]

Proper noun[edit]

New Joisey

  1. (humorous, colloquial) New Jersey

Usage notes[edit]

  • Joisey, although commonly used in jocular imitations of a Jersey accent, is not used in New Jersey. (Compare the stereotypical New York pronunciation of bird as boid which all but died out in the 1950s but lives on in imitations.)
