Etymology[edit]
From Òwu (“Owu”) + ìpóólé (“original home”), literally “The original home of the Owu”. ìpóólé is used as a term among many Yoruba societies to describe the original founding location of a town, before because of a variety of reasons, the people migrated to another location.
