Proto-Finnic[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Uralic *-ńśa (*-ŋśa). Compared with *-icë-, but the relationship must be old, as any recent relationship would require a reconstruction **-ica not supported by evidence in South Estonian (which suggests an original *-s- or a later secondary change). Compare however *-icca.

Suffix[edit]

*-isa / *-isä

  1. Forms adjectives, mostly indicating possession or abundance.
