Etymology[edit]
From earlier *bъdno, cognate with Proto-Indo-Iranian *bʰudʰnás (“bottom”), Proto-Germanic *buttaz (“end”) and akin to Proto-Indo-European *bʰudʰmḗn (“bottom”).
