Perhaps from compounding, see *ò- (nominalizing prefix) +‎ *wú (to rise) +‎ *V-rɔ̀, compare with Ekiti òyìụ́rọ̀ and ìrọ̀lẹ́. Either from an Edekiri-form or more likely, was loaned into SEY and Itsekiri.
