Inherited from Proto-Indo-Aryan *kiyatta, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *kíHant, from Proto-Indo-European *kʷíh₂-onts, from *kʷíh₂, neuter of *kʷís. Cognate with Avestan 𐬗𐬎𐬎𐬀𐬧𐬙 (cuuaṇt) and Latin quantum.
