It might be more likely that these allative adverbs ended in accusative *-ą, as I think the gemination would have been shortened otherwise, yes? Anglom (talk) 00:09, 26 February 2015 (UTC)
Reconstruction #2[edit]
I've been thinking about Rua's comment about word-final geminates for quite a while, and now because of the allative/directive nature of the adverb, I am quite tempted to reconstruct it as *inną instead. Obviously this would have left no trace in the daughter languages, which is why I didn't reconstruct it in the first place; however it does solve the problem mentioned... as well as that some daughter languages secondarily replaced it with post-PGmc *īną (German ein), on account of the full-grade in *eupą (Gothic 𐌹𐌿𐍀 (iup)), along with *ūt(ą)... it simply makes more sense if the adverbs were marked rather than bare.
