CodeCat, could you please undo this edit? Modern German wirken is the product of a merger of Middle High German würken (< *wurk-) and wirken (< *wirk-). So wirken is a descendant of *wurk-, too. This is explained in wirken, section Etymology. --MaEr 13:07, 23 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

It is a semantic descendant but not a phonological descendant, though. But in any case, it that's how it happened then it should be explained under the descendants section, with something like (merged with *wirkijaną). The same has been done with Dutch durven, which takes its meaning from *durzaną but its forms from *þurbaną. —CodeCat 14:25, 23 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
