What does the "" in this word represent? A look at the entry provides no information about this character's use in the spellings of reconstructed Proto-Indo-European words. 173.88.246.138 03:37, 2 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

It means nothing by itself. There are believed to have been at least 3 different laryngeals (see Laryngeal theory at Wikipedia), which are distinguished by subscripted numerals as *h₁, *h₂, *h₃ and possibly *h₄. For some reason, the system is converting the numeric subscript to a small non-subscripted numeral in the page name (but not in the text of the page itself, where the headword shows it as *h₁reyp-).
