Reconstruction

[edit]

@Tropylium I don't know where this reconstruction originally came from, but it doesn't seem right. The words in the descendants with this suffix have gradation, which is only possible with suffixes of the shape -(V)C. There is also no umlaut of ō > u in the nominative singular. Do you have any ideas? —Rua (mew) 11:48, 26 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Gradation is triggered by all closed syllables, so -(V)C and -(V)CCV should work equally well. No idea about the second offhand. --Tropylium (talk) 20:18, 26 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
But there can't be alternation if there's two consonants. —Rua (mew) 20:43, 26 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
