Slovene accents

@Benwing2 The Slovene accents in the descendants weren't correctly placed, the infinitive has the accent on the second syllable. Since you entered them, can I ask where you got them from? I've found quite a lot of Slavic entries with incorrectly-placed Slovene accents and I wonder if they have a common source. —Rua (mew) 18:32, 24 July 2019 (UTC)

@Rua Hmmm. My sources for Slovene were generally either Derksen or ESSJa, I think. In this case, Derksen has léžati 1sg. ležím, which is where I must have gotten it from. Benwing2 (talk) 00:36, 25 July 2019 (UTC)

Fran widely lists it with accent on the second syllable, but in Pleteršnik's 19th century dictionary the accent is on the first. I believe Pleteršnik lists the so-called "short infinitive", which is an early Slovene variant of the infinitive that lost the final -i and was thus subject to retraction of the accent on the now-final second syllable. Pravopis (on the same page) gives this form as lêžat (in stress orthography). Derksen, in turn, may have taken over this form. I have noticed he sometimes lists forms from Pleteršnik that, on Fran, are not given in any other dictionaries than that and can thus be considered obsolete nowadays. —Rua (mew) 08:36, 25 July 2019 (UTC)
