Content is incorrect. "Ya" is pronounced /jə/, not /jʌ/, in RP. Not listed in this list page, nor anywhere else, because the word is always unstressed. RP does not have words ending /-ʌ/ as far as I'm aware. — Paul G (talk) 11:27, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

Are rhymes pages just for RP? GenAm pronounces uh and duh, and some other single-syllable not-quite-words, with final /-ʌ/. —Ruakh_TALK 13:33, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

I think one American pronunciation of pho is /fʌ/. I doubt we have an entry for FUUUUUUUUUU of Rage Comics fame. —Angr 16:55, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

Rhymes pages are based on RP pronunciations with pronunciations for other Englishes deducible by transforming vowels (see the comment on US pronunciation on the rhymes main page, so, for example, "not" is listed under the rhymes for the vowel /ɒ/ but not for the vowel /ɑ/. However, where the pronunciation differs in some other way, such as which syllable is stressed (eg, many words from French ending in é, which are tend to be stressed on the final syllable in US English and the penultimate syllable in British English), separate entries are given for the two pronunciations.

British pronunciation of "uh" is /ə/ and of "duh" is /də/ or possibly /dɜː/.

So if there are words that do end in /ʌ/ in American English then by all means add them to this page and let's keep it, but they will need to be labelled {{italbrac|US pronunciation}}.

(And I think FUUUUUUUUUU is pronounced something like /fʌːːːːː/, so I'm not sure where that belongs :)) — Paul G (talk) 15:55, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
