Ellipsis of Saint Ann Parish.. Named after Saint Ann's Bay, which was in turn named after Lady Anne Hyde, first wife of James II and VII, King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland; and using the saintly terminology of the preceding Spanish name of the settlement and bay of Spanish Santa Gloria.
