Derivation

Does this term derive from a Sino-Vietnamese reading of the Chinese characters for a Cantonese term, or was it borrowed earlier, from standard Chinese? 71.66.97.228 04:25, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

It's from standard Chinese. AFAIK, the Vietnamese term for "dim sum" is not "điểm tâm", but "điểm sấm". DHN 17:35, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

I did this search, combining "điểm tâm" and "dim sum."

Dim sum is a type of breakfast. If you search for "fruit" and "apple" and end up with pictures of apples, you'd be concluding that apples = fruit. DHN 03:56, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
