AFAIK, nowadays it's only used in Slovak. Whereas the Slovak (deprecated template usage) l is pronounced [l], like the English (deprecated template usage) l, the Slovak (deprecated template usage) ľ is pronounced [ʎ], like the Spanish (deprecated template usage) ll (in dialects which have not undergone yeísmo).
