@Erutuon, Angr, JohnC5: I added the Mycenaean form following the format found at κόρη (kórē), but that makes me wonder: what's the exact situation of Mycenaean here? We treat it as a separate language in our headers and templates (code gmy), but as a dialect in {{alter}} (code muk). And there's also the fact that we don't treat it as an ancestor of grc. --Barytonesis (talk) 01:20, 19 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Relatedly, should Mycenaean entries be formatted like 𐀀𐀒𐀰𐀚 (a-ko-so-ne) (Ancient Greek mentioned under the header "Alternative forms") or like 𐀀𐀓𐀫 (a-ku-ro) (Ancient Greek mentioned as a cognate in the etymology)? --Barytonesis (talk) 01:33, 19 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Barytonesis: We do treat Mycenaean as a separate language, which means gmy and grc can be mentioned as cognates in each other's etymology sections, but a gmy word shouldn't be considered an alternative form of a grc word, or vice versa. And we don't consider gmy an ancestor of grc, but I wonder whether we should. There are arguments pro and con to consider, but an obscure talk page isn't the place to do it. You could start a discussion at the Beer Parlor. —Aɴɢʀ (talk) 07:55, 19 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
