@Canonicalization, Vahagn Petrosyan: Vasmer also says it's of Polish origin. Search for пари́жки (parížki) (a regional word for a type of shoes). Here's an explanation from the Polish Śląsk university [1], in particular "The writing "Paryż" used by us is a result of Polonisation (spolszczenie) of the Latin form "Parisium". --Anatoli T.
