@Guldrelokk: Hello. Do you know what the prefix is here? Is it в- (v-), or вс- (vs-)? The latter would make a deal more sense to me. Per utramque cavernam 18:55, 13 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Per utramque cavernam I am not an expert on Russian, but I'm Polish. There are two options:

When it comes to decide between those two, I don't know. Same in Polish wstać, wstawać. Czech vstát, vstávat has no etymology; Belarussian устаць (ustacʹ), уставаць (ustavacʹ) and Ukrainian вставати (vstavaty), встати (vstaty) support my 2nd option. @Per utramque cavernam: You are correct. Same for вскочи́ть (vskočítʹ). възстати is among the attested Old East Slavic spellings. Guldrelokk (talk) 04:41, 14 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Guldrelokk: Thank you!
@Wrzodek: I should have posted this on the talkpage of встать (vstatʹ). My question is specifically about the prefix used in that verb; в- (v-, in) doesn't make much sense, вс- (vs-, up) is much more convincing semantically. It's probably the same in Polish, Belarusian, etc. Per utramque cavernam 19:05, 14 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
