@Lingo Bingo Dingo As Fraenkel says (I linked a page scan of him), the single attestion of it is in a misspelling with the waw and gamal transposed, in Payne-Smith an unknown thought. So I wrote as Fraenkel wants semkaṯ – Pṯāḥā – gamal – ʿəṣāṣā - waw - rēš. Fay Freak (talk) 14:36, 21 August 2018 (UTC)

@Lingo Bingo Dingo As I read words with ū in the printed books, it always seems to me like the ʿṣāṣā is in the space between the consonant sign and the waw mater lectionis. I don’t mind correct placement of course, but it looks like a lot of people have made things wrong with Syriac diacritics. Concerningly the ʿṣāṣā looks on my system (in multiple applications) better on the gamal. I see that even in the Unicode chart the diacritics look misplaced. Correctly though on the German Wikipedia article even though through Unicode and not as picture – apparently most font designers have wrongly copied from the Unicode charts?

So does the tradition of Syriac grammaticians say that the diacritics are placed right above the mater lectionis, not left above the consonant, or didn’t they ask such questions before there was the need to encode? Apparently it is encoded like this (like the German Wikipedia article displays); coming from Arabic I expected the opposite. Also other digital sources encode like I expect, for example ܚܽܘܪܳܐ in syriacdictionary.net, encoded 071A SYRIAC LETTER HETH 073D SYRIAC ESASA ABOVE 0718 SYRIAC LETTER WAW 072A SYRIAC LETTER RISH 0733 SYRIAC ZQAPHA ABOVE 0710 SYRIAC LETTER ALAPH, and so in all entries there.
