Wrong verb[edit]
This verb should be ܪܓܫ. Gh is often pronounced as a glottal stop, a y, or just completely skipped, so I can see where the misinterpretation of it being 3e comes from but it’s incorrect Shuraya (talk) 05:27, 10 August 2022 (UTC)
The modern standard Koine, backed up by the sureth languages website (I have provided references) and the Bailis Shamun dictionary. Lists ܪܥܫ as wake and ܪܓܫ as sense. Even ܫܥܫ shake and ܫܓܫ to confuse is the same concept. Hence why I have listed them as two separate entries. Although in previous Aramaic forms or classical Syriac may have been that way. The modern standard Koine of Assyrian neo-Aramaic has developed both with two separate meaning. In the Urmian dialect it’s pronounced rayesh rather than ra3esh. - How do you know it’s with an 3e though? Seems like the people writing that weren’t educated on etymology and how Modern Aramaic works. Gh blends in with y or a glottal stop in modern Assyrian. So if this word doesn’t exist in classical Syriac, or any other older Aramaic dialects, how would you know it exists today, if no one even pronounces it with an 3e? It’s the same as R-G-Sh and listing them as two separate entries is wrong Shuraya (talk) 17:26, 30 October 2022 (UTC)
