    Similarly, kamlang, a Khmer-provenance noun meaning ‘might, strength’, came to be used in mid-19th century writing as a preverbal auxiliary marking progressive or continuous aspect. The usage was either in addition to, or instead of, postverbal serialized yù: ‘stay’. The latter form alone is found in older Thai sources and in current rural dialects.
