- My personal guess is that the term might originally refer to 'rice (planting/harvesting) season' before it was later applied to any 'year' as in the refs above. --iudexvivorum (talk) 01:25, 17 September 2017 (UTC)
- Should it be moved to เข้า instead? Archaic spelling definitely matches archaic sense, but not for present spelling . --Octahedron80 (talk) 01:28, 17 September 2017 (UTC)

- 'เข้า' is an old spelling of 'ข้าว', that's why the definition should be at 'ข้าว' – just like 'เล่า/เหล้า', 'หมี/มิ', etc. --iudexvivorum (talk) 01:52, 17 September 2017 (UTC)

Northern Thai (Lanna) language[edit]
ᨡᩮᩢ᩶ᩣ is the correct spelling of Northern Thai (Lanna) language, and is pronounced เข้า (short vowel). It's has never pronounced ข้าว (long vowel) also. — This unsigned comment was added by 84.102.131.241 (talk).
