@Octahedron80 Can I please ask where Proto-Tai *lhauᶜ is from? Currently virtually all the content in Category:Proto-Tai language, especially Category:Thai terms derived from Proto-Tai, is based on Pittayaporn (2009) as described in Proto-Tai language. I use this source along the way: [1], that has different notation. I didn't know what is your source and where to search. And there are also a lot of other proto languages that can be searched in the site. --Octahedron80 (talk) 09:40, 6 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Octahedron80 A copy of Pittayaporn (2009) can be found here (search for 'liquor'). Personally I prefer we use a single system for Proto-Tai, and Pittayaporn's seems to be the most up-to-date. Wyang (talk) 09:46, 6 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
My source is dated around 2008-05-28 on 1329 terms of Zhuang-Tai and 2009-12-19 on 787 terms of Tai-Kadai. Are Pittayaporn's 788 terms really newer? They say August 2009. IMO Tai-Kadai and Pittayaporn's are from the same paper. --Octahedron80 (talk) 09:50, 6 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
However, the superscript capital C and S are not defined by Unicode. This might be problem. --Octahedron80 (talk) 09:59, 6 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
The main problem is that the Starling Proto-Zhuang-Tai database is unpublished. Searching for author:"Ilia Peiros" or author:"Ilya Peiros" at Google Scholar returns no publication on the reconstructed Proto-Zhuang-Tai - this makes it very likely to be unreviewed and prone to errors. The Starling databases (developed by Sergei Starostin and his son) of proto-languages are not particularly reliable and generally avoided as a primary source of citation on Wiktionary, when there are alternative sources available; see for example diff, Wiktionary:Beer_parlour/2016/August#Proto-Turkic, Talk:𒄠𒋛 and Wiktionary:Requests for verification#Appendix:Proto-Dravidian/nīru for past discussions. Well. Let's use Pittayaporn's then. Even it is harder to find. 😢 --Octahedron80 (talk) 10:13, 6 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
Now that we've found it, it should be much easier 😀. Wyang (talk) 10:15, 6 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
