@Reordcraeft Those examples don't work.

1) Because of the remoteness, the villages are inaccessible to the outside world.

'Distance' can be used in this context just as well as 'remoteness'.

2) The remoteness between stars of the galaxy

This is incorrect English; it would have to be 'distance'.

I offer the following example where only 'remoteness' can be used and not 'distance':

3) The remoteness of the mountain village was mostly annoying but sometimes also useful.

This was a very ad-hoc sentence, without much thought being put into it. How about "The remoteness of the outer reaches of the galaxy makes it a challenging area to explore"?. სიშორე can convey the sense.

"The physical remoteness caused by their long-distance relationship challenged their ability to stay connected emotionally". სიშორე can convey this sense as well.

Please tell me which sense is lacking and I can either confirm or deny whether this term applies. --Reordcraeft (talk) 23:17, 30 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Reordcraeft On the contrary, the example was thoughtfully selected. It is the only one so far which makes sense using the word 'remoteness' but not if it is replaced by 'distance'. Neither of your new sentences meets this criterion; both make sense with either word.
I offer another example: "As she sat among the trees, her mind finally free of the hectic demands of city life, she grew to appreciate the remoteness of the forest." Nicodene (talk) 23:46, 30 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
At the risk of interrupting, I will describe a key point:
The remoteness of something does not depend on one's position. A tourist can travel to a mountain village and complain that it is remote, because their arrival does nothing to change the fact that it is far from any other outpost of civilisation.
Distance, on the other hand, does depend on one's position. The same tourist cannot complain that the village is 'distant' because he is already standing in it. Nicodene (talk) 00:13, 31 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
