Etymology[edit]

Well, since an unsourced and unsubstantiated complaint was made against it, I'll leave this here

From the sense of as a pair or couple.

but, as mentioned in the edit, it came from zhongwen.com and certainly seems much more plausible than the complaint against it. That said, yeah, sure, more scholarly or authoritative sources are better.

@LlywelynII: There is a huge distinction between etymology and glyph origin. I was requesting for an etymology, which is where the word came from. Zhongwen.com only provides glyph origins, mostly based on Shuowen, and not "actual" etymology. Take a look at to see what I mean. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 07:45, 15 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
