@Justinrleung, by any chance, is Tong'an Hokkien a standard within Xiamen? Hongthay (talk) 15:08, 5 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

@Hongthay, I don't think it is, since it was historically part of Quanzhou and retains a lot of Quanzhou features. I'm not sure if TDJ is wrong for attributing khù to Tong'an since 闽方大 says that it has the same vowels as Quanzhou for the most part. The description in 闽方大 isn't very comprehensive, so I can't say for sure. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 15:32, 5 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
Interesting. Thank you. Hongthay (talk) 15:35, 5 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
I just checked 廈門方言詞典, which has khù for suburbs of Xiamen and khìr for Tong'an. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 04:59, 8 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
Looks like TDJ isn't correct this time. Thanks much! Hongthay (talk) 16:24, 8 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Etymology inconsistent[edit]

The Chinese etymology states both that there were two related pronunciations in Middle Chinese and that these pronunciations had already merged before that time by Old Chinese. The entries themselves seem to list both pronunciations in Middle Chinese, from two OC sources. --Dijekjapen (talk) 15:34, 17 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
