孔垄/孔垅/孔壟/孔壠[edit]

The character 垅 is not an official simplified character. But there's a town in Huangmei, Huanggang, Hubei, China that goes by both 孔垄 and 孔垅. To me, this could imply that some people in the area believe that the traditional form is 孔壠 and that the traditional form is not 孔壟. But under the way that Wiktionary works, we would probably make 孔壟 the core page and then make 孔垄 孔垅 & 孔壠 into simplified and variant pages. I never made those pages. I bring it up now because there is a question about the simplification of 壠 in the word 大武壠族. Xiandai Hanyu Guifan Cidian Edition 3 doesn't simplify the character, so I say leave 大武壠族 as is, with maybe |alt=大武垅族 or something similar. As to the pronunciation in second or third tone, I have no particular information beside that Guoyu and Putonghua dictionaries are saying third tone is the official reading. --Geographyinitiative (talk) 04:04, 8 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Tongyong Guifan Hanzi Biao has no 壠 or 垅, and Xiandai Hanyu Cidian Ed7 says 壠 is a variant of 垄 --Geographyinitiative (talk) 04:06, 8 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Just as I suspected, the original traditional characters form of the 孔垄/孔垅 town of Hubei was 孔壠 (at least on this map: [1]). --Geographyinitiative (talk) 10:20, 5 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
