Move to 大岷?[edit]

@Mlgc1998, Mar vin kaiser Should this be moved to 大岷? We generally do not include 區 in entry titles for names of districts in Mainland China and Taiwan, but I'm not sure if this principle can be applied here as well. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 14:28, 22 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Justinrleung I asked a couple of older people. in both instances, they said that Tāi-bîn-khu/大岷區 is more frequent for them than just Tāi-bîn/大岷. from my experience, I don't hear this term a lot and it seems more literary/technical jargon, since it's usually seen more written, like in newspapers or books, print or online. I bet not a lot of younger filchi that frequently hear Hokkien in their families are familiar with it. The more widely known term in Hokkien that I bet most everyone would recognize is to generally refer to Metro Manila by just calling it as 馬尼拉, by extension. I searched up how both terms are used online and usually the articles and books often have 大岷區 included somewhere, when using just 大岷, unless they mean to append it to some government department name or office referring to some Metro Manila government authorities or it was already implicitly understood. @Justinrleung: The thing is, I think the 區 in this case is part of the name. To be honest, I'm not aware of it being shortened to 大岷. --Mar vin kaiser (talk) 10:56, 24 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Mlgc1998, Mar vin kaiser: Thanks for your reply. I'm also wondering if this term could also be used in Mandarin since it seems to be used in publications. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 16:54, 25 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Justinrleung: I'm positive that at the very least, it's used in Mandarin in the Philippines. --Mar vin kaiser (talk) 02:30, 26 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
