Traditional version

Can the traditional version be explained? It doesn't seem to be widely used in traditional Chinese, so it's very confusing. How/when is the traditional version used? 24.93.170.200 08:35, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

誌 (traditional) has a root meaning of "to write" or "to record." It is used in compounds such as:

• 雜誌 (magazine, simplified 杂志)
• 標誌 (symbol; sign mark, simplified 标志)
• 日誌 (journal, simplified 日志)

志 (simplified and traditional) has a root meaning of "aspiration" or "ambition." It is used in such compounds as:

• 同志 (comrade)
• 意志 (will; purpose)
• 有志竟成 (Where there's a will, there's a way.)

Can the above please be added to the entry itself? It doesn't state that 志 may also be traditional, causing confusion. 24.29.228.33 18:17, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
