For Japanese at least, yes, it can mean pickle, pickling, etc., by extension from the meaning of soak, steep -- since that's what you do to make pickles, you soak or steep vegetables in some sort of liquid until they ferment. -- Eiríkr Útlendi │ Tala við mig 00:04, 23 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
