Meaning[edit]

@Frigoris Does this chengyu describe not only make-up but also adornments and attire, or is it limited only to makeup? 國語辭典 defines 濃妝豔抹 as "女子刻意妝飾得華美豔麗", while 漢語大詞典 has "妝飾豔麗", so I'm unsure. RcAlex36 (talk) 11:59, 20 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

@RcAlex36, I think especially in earlier usage (zhuāng) includes both cosmetics and what we'd call adornments such as 花鈿花钿 (huādiàn) and many items applied to the face and the head. As for "attire" I don't think it's reflected in this word in particular. --Frigoris (talk) 12:14, 20 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
