Former Simplified Character

There is a former simplified character of 第 which looks exactly like 节 except that it has a 撇 stroke on the left hand side; kinda like the pie in 第. Don't know if that character exists in the digital world yet. --Geographyinitiative (talk) 10:43, 18 January 2018 (UTC)

Proposed usage note

Here is my proposed usage note:

"According to 汉语拼音正词法基本规则 6.1.5.4, in pinyin, a dash is required between dì (第) and the numeral which follows it. For example: dì-yī (第一, first). The dash should not be used if the word in which dì (第) and the numeral appear does not refer to an ordinal number in the context. For example: Dìwǔ (第五, a Chinese compound surname)."

I think this is a usage note on the usage of 第 because the rule in question mentions how a dash should be used in conjunction with the pinyin for the character 第 specifically. The rule is "数词与前面表示序数的"第"中间，加连接号。例如：dì-yī （第一）etc. examples"(汉语拼音正词法基本规则 6.1.5.4) All of the examples cited use 第. I think this is a usage note on the word because it shows how you use pinyin to describe 第. If this doesn't qualify as a 'usage note' specifically, I think it should qualify as some other kind of important note. --Geographyinitiative (talk) 09:19, 16 September 2018 (UTC)

IMO it's more of a note about pinyin itself, and belongs on wikipedia:Hanyu Pinyin (or [[Appendix:Hanyu Pinyin]], if we had such a page). Lots of romanizations have their own rules. —Suzukaze-c◇◇ 09:25, 16 September 2018 (UTC)
