@Mar vin kaiser Where did you get the Min Nan pronunciation from? — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 11:32, 2 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Based on how 地 is pronounced in Taiwanese. Basically, since Taiwanese would automatically read 馬爾地夫 character for character in Taiwanese, then I wrote the pronunciation character-for-character for both Taipei and Kaohsiung. You could revert it if you find it unacceptable, but I don't know how else would Taiwanese say Maldives. --Mar vin kaiser (talk) 14:15, 2 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
The bigger problem is 爾, since nī is a pronunciation used for substitution. I think it's best to omit the Min Nan, since I would think most Taiwanese would just say the Mandarin. I put a request on itaigi.tw to see if anyone knows there. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 14:54, 2 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Justinrleung If you look at 阿爾及利亞 in 台文/華文線頂辭典, 爾 is pronunced ní, and looking at 海地, you see two alternatives for 地, tē and tōe, so the reasonable pronunciation of 馬爾地夫 is Má-ní-tē-hu/Má-ní-tōe-hu.
