equalizer, but tie seems to be used in a similar sense in AE (to score a tie), tie on its own would be Gleichstand (in game) or Unentschieden (result). – Jberkel 17:55, 29 November 2020 (UTC)

Yeah, by the most common sports-related meanings of the two words, it's an equalizer, a goal, point, etc which results in teams having the same number of goals, points, etc. I wonder if tie can be attested with the meaning "equalizer" (probably). Btw, looking into the latter question led me to read about how ties differ from draws in cricket (what a sport!). - -sche (discuss) 01:45, 30 November 2020 (UTC)
