@Surjection, I was thinking of taking this issue to the WT:BP, but later deemed it not worth the while for fear that the issue be seen by some as rather petty— though it seems rather serious to me. I am not explaining the context here because it is very clear from the page history. Since you are an admin. & also a dedicated editor, I think you are a suitable person to put forth a just solution.
