Found a job title in census records called Hester. One associated with a railroad worker in 1920. One not associated with another business from 1850 census. Could this be orgin of English surname Hester, and what does a Hester do?

  • No. The name Hester is derived from Ester. Census records are full of errors caused by the census-taker not understanding what the person has said (or written). But I can't think what this one might really be (see if you can find him in a different year). SemperBlotto 08:25, 30 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
