I'm going to use some concepts from Linguistics:

First, read the basic concepts of what compose a sign at:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Sign_Language_grammar#Hand_orientation.2C_movement.2C_and_hold

Then:

http://www.handspeak.com or www.asl.ms

Michael

Thanks, Michael. handspeak.com requires a subscription, so I cannot see that content, and I couldn't figure out what link to click on from http://www.asl.ms. I've read w:American Sign Langauge grammar#Hand orientation, movement, and hold and modified the hold-movement description so it puts the positions into those terms. It that any better? Please let me know if I'm still missing something, though. Rod (A. Smith) 23:02, 5 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
