Is Rom specifically for men of the Roma people? I thought so, but am not sure. — DavidL 20:01 10 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Etymologically, yes. It means man or husband. However, according to the Wikipedia articles it applies to Roma in general. This is certainly plausible. The masculine often doubles as the unmarked form. -dmh 20:13, 10 Sep 2004 (UTC)

English: masculine singular is "Rom" and the plurals are "Roma" and "Roms". English doesn't have masculine nouns. Mglovesfun (talk) 20:13, 8 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
