Talk:Svalbard and Jan Mayen Islands

If they are two distinct territories I'm wondering if they should be in one article. Wouldn't it be more logical to have two separate articles Svalbard and Jan Mayen? Or is it common usage to name them together? D.D. 08:51 Mar 3, 2003 (UTC)

I just followed the link prepared by somebody but I tend to agree. Things that unify them are: ruled by Norway, no indigenous people, common ISO code (SJ), but as they have no inhabitants (except scientists) and they are separated a bit in terms of physical distance, it's a good thing to make separate entries. Both the Flags of the World website and the CIA Factbook website (Svalbard and Jan Mayen) say that these are two distinct territories. I'll include them both separately in Wiktionary. D.D. 19:32 Mar 4, 2003 (UTC)
