Non-abbreviations[edit]
I suggest removing non-abbreviated translations such as Америка etc as they equal in meaning to English America. Шурбур (talk) 18:01, 21 January 2017 (UTC)
- The thing is, not all languages are conducive to abbreviations. Also, abbreviations are only popular in English because the full term is wordy, and not all languages have such a term that needs to be reduced to an abbreviation. On the other hand, U.S.A. (or USA) is very commonly used in books and documents that are constantly being translated into other languages. This translation table shows how to translate USA into the other languages, and the translation, as you have noticed, is not always an abbreviation. It's similar to parts of speech ... a word in one language is not always translated to another language using the same part of speech. That is, a noun, once translated, might be a verb. The point is, all these terms can be translated, but the translation may not be an abbreviation, the same port of speech, or even the same register. —Stephen (Talk) 00:04, 22 January 2017 (UTC)
