@Lingo Bingo Dingo: This could use some etymological explanation, methinks. Is wieven an obsolete or regional alternative for wijven, perhaps influenced by Frisian? —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 09:21, 1 June 2016 (UTC)
- @Metaknowledge It is indeed a regional variant/cognate of wijven, from the eastern dialects/Low Saxon (where ij is often pronounced as /i/ or /i:/). I'm not certain about what the etymology should be in detail, though. Lingo Bingo Dingo (talk) 09:27, 1 June 2016 (UTC)
